*So I went ahead and made a general Tori Amos thread, since there are a bunch of specific ones but none for random stuff. Hope that's OK.*

I have been listening to her latest show bootleg from Bonnaroo and I just realized how much the Upside Down piano reminds me of Charlotte. What song is it that sounds similar? Am I going crazy? Anywho, really reminds me of Charlotte. I love both gals.

(Wow, that spans 20 years!)

The beginning reminds me a little of Chasing a Shadow, but not the rest of the song

Yea, only the beginning part. I need to learn Upside Down so I can play a mash of Chasing a Shadow and Upsidedown.

I also want to learn a mash of Tori's Sugar and Charlotte's Silver Honey.

here is a link to the entire bonnarroo set, courtesy of NPR -- they pretty much have archives of everyone's sets, btw, including The Flaming Lips playing "Dark Side of the Moon" in entirety..

I really enjoyed the tori set! I was surprised at how much I really dug "Secret Spell" solo -- The performance of that song in general was great, I though, even without the "turn turn turn" bit. Cooling and Concertina are a couple of my top favs, although I prefer all piano when she does it solo. But that was a great set, for sure.

New rumored Tori album coming in September of this year!

Rumored title Restless Night, classical feel with bondage style cover art (very strange!)

Classical feel? Would that mean more piano or more symphony? Hmmm...

Can't wait, either way.

I'm excited for classical, but not sure if bondage artwork is the way to go.
But hey, it's Tori, and I'm going to buy the new album regardless. Smile

I love Tori, but I really want just a piano/vocal album - emotional and moody like Boys for Pele. I really loved American Doll Posse, but wasn't so much into Abnormally Attracted to Sin. We'll see ... I always end up getting whatever she puts out! LOL!

From her newsletter.....

"We have some exciting news to report. Tori has a new album titled Night of Hunters set for September release.  The album will  coming out via the world’s most celebrated classical label, Deutsche Grammophon."

Here’s how Tori describes the new record:
"It's a 21st century song cycle inspired by classical music themes spanning over 400 years.  I have used the structure of a song cycle to tell an ongoing, modern story. The protagonist is a woman who finds herself in the dying embers of a relationship. In the course of one night she goes through an initiation of sorts that leads her to reinvent herself allowing the listener to follow her on a journey to explore complex musical and emotional subject matter.  One of the main themes explored on this album is the hunter and the hunted and how both exist within us.”

Woot woot!!

its not the photoshopping. its the lack of originatliy in the photo. it looks like tvab/adp/mwg - its just not very creative. her visuals used to be SO creative. im really let down.

Yea, I feel you. I have the BFP poster framed on my wall so yes, I totally agree.

Hopefully the music/live shows will make up for it. The live shows always do!

I get the feeling it's not the album cover...but I could be wrong. I think it's just a promo shot at this point.

I think so too.

Things I do like about it: the background, her hair, and her skirt

Things I don't like about it: whatever they did to her face (lighting? photoshop?)

Why could I talk endlessly about one promo pic? lol.

Aside from From the Choirgirl Hotel, all her album covers have been fairly lame.

Apparently it's going to be a classical music album. Why else would it be released on DG?

loveburns, if you think that pic is unoriginal you're going to love the cover. Maybe you should start doing her photoshots. Actually, the DoN photoshoot would fit much better (then T's pics) with this title - Night of Hunters.

I really, I do like it better then the first one, it's just so unnatural looking.

But the good news is, the music sounds interesting so far and there is rumor of a strings - best - of set for next year.
