One of my favorite photos that Lauren shot in Philly. She made the best of our awkward seating arrangement and the subdued lighting, and I will botherbotherbother her to get more shots from that night up on the interwebs.

I used to adore the lighting at the World Cafe, but something has been different about it the last few times I've seen shows there. I remember it being very lit up with vibrant colors which looked awesome against the acoustic panels on the back wall. I hate it when they hang the white curtain over them. Minor complaint, yes, because I still LOVE The World Cafe. Everything from the great atmosphere to the food and that wacky mural on the wall in the hallway.

All of my videos are up on YouTube now -- and I'm sure that those of you that have been waiting for them to pop up have already found them, but here is a link to Stromata, one of my favorites of the night, and the rest can be found from there of course -- I was able to record all of the songs, save for the two encores. But luckily they were recorded by others and are up on YouTube as well. So that means the WHOLE SHOW is up on YouTube, from all different angles even, which is pretty darn awesome.

I hope that the fans that weren't able to go to the show enjoy them, and that's why I really wanted to capture as much as the show as I could. I am new to video-ing (clearly you all can tell by the shitty quality of my videos) and I am still learning the ins-and-outs of the camera and how to hold it without shaking it or getting a kink in my back from trying to stay perfectly still. Wink

Charlotte brought an amazing show to us in Philly. "Redeemed" as an opener was a surprise. I'm not sure what "here comes the loincloth" meant (I do have a few guesses), but I was blown away by how "Cut the Cord" sounds with just the piano. And the extra lyrics were jaw-dropping ("Just enough to fornicate me," anyone?)

I had never heard "A Little Respect" before (is it okay to admit that?), so I had no idea what she was playing before "On Your Shore." I always forget how much I love to hear "On Your Shore," and it was gorgeous.

We got a snippet of "Volcano" from the Ultimate Ears video, and I loved getting to hear the entire thing. Though it will be totally different the next time we hear it once the album is released, since Charlotte explained that the recording has lots of effects and doesn't have a portion that the acoustic version has.

I know that I said in the request thread that I do not like "Sweet Chariot" (yes, let the floggings begin), I'm afraid I'm going to have to eat my words because I was actually very moved by the performance in Philly -- and the "Swing Low, Sweet Chariot" was a lovely intro.

"Tremble" has been swirling around in my head since I heard it. Can she release the new album now? Please? Beautiful, beautiful song.

Okay. I know what you're thinking. Long post for someone that just earlier in the thread said she never knows what to say in these threads. But I can't end it before I say how wonderful it is to be in a room with Char fans, and that I had a great time talking with longtime concert pals and meeting new ones. You know who you are. <3

Are you converting them to the right format first? There are some formats that YouTube likes better. That's what my problem at first. All my files were .avi and YouTube no likey that. (I am a first time YouTube uploader!)

This is my favorite of the bunch you posted. (Your photos keep getting better and better!) She looks so dramatic. I love when her bangs did that wispy thing. And I love Char's outfit that night! And those hot shoes!

These are very nice! My favorite is the one where she is holding up two fingers. I don't think she was intentionally giving the peace sign, but that's what it looks like. Smile Was that when she was listing off the "three things"?

no idea! lol. i know the ones at the end where she's standing up was when she was taking votes on what song to play last.

not happy with the high noise on these photos, but with the lighting not what it used to be and being a bit further away... i didn't spend as much time as i should have on post-production editing but my home monitor also isn't the best - seeing them at work makes me want to go change them!

awesome pics!!! I agree with Leirali. I love the one where she is holding up two fingers. I also love the one where she is standing up at the end when she was getting votes on which song to play. Haha I love the fact she said it doesn't matter cause I am going to play what I want anyway. hahahaha.

reallllly love 'the dance' done the way she did it on this tour...totally raw. with her piano as percussion. very powerful.

IF YOU'RE GOING TO ONE OF THESE SHOWS -- DON"T LISTEN!! This is such a wonderful song and it should be heard live first if you can help it. Go to your show and hear it there, it's just lovely. Smile

you got tremble!! ahh. love it. the 'uh-ohs' get stuck in my head in a very very good way. i cannot wait for her new album. just by the new songs she played on tour, its gonna be amazing.

leirali!! i love this post. i remember the lighting at the WCL being a bit more...dramatic? like, i know they have the special lights. ive seen them. take out the special lights! still an amazing char mar show...there's something about charlotte at this venue that makes it just shoot to the top of any char tour. the energy is always fantastic in there.

yay for videos!! yesssss. more folks should be at the shows and record. lol

this 'cut the cord' was amped up bigtime. definitely a WOW moment...blew many folks away. loved it.

did you like the 'a little respect' intro to 'on your shore'?? she played a snippet of that back in 06 during the something like a dvd tour. i loved it. big erasure fan. so it was like worlds colliding when char did it and to hear it again...so beautiful. something about earnestness in a song...love.

volcano is definitely a favorite from what she played us...that and tremble are probably early favorites from the new char mar album.

i love saying new char mar album.

and swing low sweet chariot into sweet chariot...i got chills. so so amazing. her voice is fantastic.

i love seeing the fans. i mean...there's nothing like sharing a show with a room full of people you know and who get it. and then can talk about it afterwards.

can i put this out there now? i say...when char plays WCL again in Philly...we do an after party somewhere. because there's never enough time to catch up. Smile

you should write more of these long posts. ha!

i just want to say thank you in general to everyone who recorded videos at these shows and are posting them on youtube. it is great for those of us who live nowhere near to where she was playing and also have no money to travel or buy tickets or eat food.

it's greatly appreciated!

Hee! I've been uploading that exact same video for the last hour. I'm 516/677 MB as I type...

EDIT: aaaand, almost done, and my router decides to hiccup and wreck the whole upload. Back to the start... here it is finally... It's got crowd chatter in the front, but Char was so emotional, I had to leave it in...
