Woot!

Got the email, ran right out and download it. This one is a complete, awesome song! Drums, synth, chorus, the whole package. I'll transcribe the lyrics later tonight, as it seems this is the first surfacing of this song, as far as I know.

Great song, it's maybe the best so far. Once again we realize that the most important instrument is CharMar's voice. Embarassed

"Desire" is a song that could chart top 50 in the Adult Contemporary if released. It's amazing to me that Fan Club members are the only ones getting songs of this quality.

Amazing song! Makes us think of her song on the album Orphans.

Such an amazing song, her recent work has been her best in my opinion. DON is a true artistic achievement.

Hi Lisa! Its so nice to hear from you. I just now recovered from 2010, it was a long year. I got married, moved and welcomed in our new baby Shih Tzu "Gunther" Its nice to be back, especially after hearing her new work.

Take care Lisa Smile

interesting...ive seen some responses saying the song sounds like 'is this called desire' from orphans. i dont really hear that. it's wayyyy more minimal sounding to me. which is part of why i love it. there's a beat, there's some ambient synth...most importantly there's her voice and what she's singing about. im still listening to it on repeat. love it!! Heart

Agreed - it doesn't sound anything like the other Desire.

Also agreed - "Desire" doesn't sound anything like "Is This Called Desire." Though it's obvious that these two songs sprung from the same word tree. Smile

I read somewhere that CharMar wrote this back in 2007, or was it recorded also back then?

Where is the references that peeps think "Desire" sounds like "Something Called Desire" ? We don't do Facebook or Twitter, so just curious.

I LOVE this song. Obsessed. I can't make out some of the lyrics. Can anyone take a guess at it? I'd love it if you could email me them at donnelly.jennifer@gmail.com Smile

And I agree that this song sounds nothing like Is this Called Desire, and that her voice is the highlighted and brilliant instrument. Ahh... love it!

I think it's just because of the use of the word "desire" in both songs. One of the lyrics in "Desire," she sings, "Is this desire that I feel?" which is similar to title lyric in the song "Is This Called Desire?" People are only noting a lyrical similarity, not a melodic one.

Why don't you post the lyrics you can make out? Leave brackets for what you don't understand, like so [ ]. Maybe we can all try and come up with something close to the correct lyrics. Smile

SkekTek - have you tried transcribing the lyrics yet?

I can make out most of the text, but there's one line I'm stuck on, so I left question marks behind that sentence. Maybe someone here can make out what she says there? It sounds a bit like 'wear' but not completely, I'm not sure it sounds enough like 'way' to pass that off ...

And the sentence that begins with 'addicted' is grammatically incorrect like this, but it's what I hear, so I don't know.

Coming down
Itís high, low depending on the ways I try to think
Youíre in, out of my head
Addicted to a something that replace the one I love
Instead I

Is this desire that I feel
That rocks me down again
And if this is your wear (?)
Itís a pain I could
A pain I could never take

You leave me empty-handed baby
And say itís for my sake
And if this is your wear (?)
Then itís a pain I can
A pain

I can take it like I could
The years of numbing did no good
And I feel like my eyes are finally
Open now
The lack of real communication
I twisted into love somehow I

Is this desire that I feel
That rocks me down again
And if this is your wear(?)
Itís a pain I can
A pain I could never take

You leave me empty-handed baby
And say itís for my sake
And if this is your wear (?)
Itís a pain I can
A pain I could never

Is this desire that I feel
That rocks me down again
And if this is your wear (?)
Itís a pain I could
A pain I could never take

You leave me empty-handed baby
And say itís for my sake
And if this is your wear (?)
Itís a pain I can
A pain I can take it

(Desire)
Is this desire that I feel
That rocks me down again
If this is your wear (?)
Itís a pain I can
A pain I can never take

(Desire)
You leave me empty-handed baby
And say itís for my sake
And if this is your wear (?)
Itís a pain I can
A pain I can take it
(Desire)

I hope you guys don't mind me posting what I hear, I thought it might help others finding the lyrics.

this is really good, kate_1221! here's what i hear in some parts...

is this deire that i feel
the *RAMPS* are down again
and if this is your *WAY*
well it's a pain i could
a pain i could never take

although i thought it was 'a pill i could never take...'

i thought ramps are down because she opens herself up to this feeling again...i dunno. Smile

That sounds very plausible, I wasn't sure about 'rocks'. Laughing And yes, it could be way, I suppose ... That would make the most sense in the context.

I settled for 'pain' in the end, but I hadn't considered 'pill', so that's also completely possible!

Sorry it's so late- looks like someone beat me to it! Here's my older translation. I'll fix it and add to what Kate found:

Desire

Coming down
Itís high or low, depending on
The ways I try to figure it out
Out of my head
Addicted to a something that replaces the one I love.
Instead I..

CHORUS:
Is this desire that I feel?
That runs me down again
And if this is your will,
Itís a bet I canítÖ A bet I can never take
You leave me empty handed, baby
And say itís for my sake
And if this is your will,
Itís a bet I canítÖ. I bet I canít take itÖ

Like I could
The years of numbing did no good
And I feel like
My eyes are finally open now
The lie of your communications
Are twisted into love somehow andÖ

CHORUS:
Is this desire that I feel?
That runs me down again
And if this is your will,
Itís a bet I canítÖ A bet I can never take
You leave me empty handed, baby
And say itís for my sake
And if this is your will,
Itís a bet I canítÖ. I bet I can neverÖ

(instrumental)

CHORUS:
Is this desire that I feel?
That runs me down again
And if this is your will,
Itís a bet I canítÖ A bet I can never take
You leave me empty handed, baby
And say itís for myÖ sake
And if this is your will,
Itís a bet I canítÖ. I bet I can take itÖ

Is this desire that I feel?
That runs me down again
And if this is your will,
Itís a bet I canítÖ A bet I can never take
You leave me empty handed, baby
And say itís for myÖ sake
And if this is your will,
Itís a bet I canítÖ. I bet I can take itÖ (desire)
