This is probably a dumb question but how exactly does one do a word tree? Do you just start off with a word in the middle and branch out from there and then branch out from the words you get thereafter? Kind of like brainstorming in a way?

Does anyone have any examples? I know that on Char's old site she had some but they aren't on her new one. Does anyone know where I could see those?

Thanks. Smile

word trees can be designed in any fashion that please you. i don't think there is a right or wrong way to create one. i think maybe the fastest and simpliest way is to simply list words or emotions that are affecting you or pulling you in and write whatever comes to you when you see those words or phrases---and you know you can branch from there in any direction that the wind carries you.

i think in the questions for char section there is a word tree started by char and added to by fans in the hmm i don't recall the topic thread but it begins with char asking herself about the central park show.

hope this helps.

you know you can always post one here and people can add onto your tree, recalling things that those words or prhases mean to them. sometimes it helps me to see how others view the sames words.

Not really, we would have to experience all the things the other person experienced to know that person as well as that person knows herself, but then she may hid from her experiences... god life can get complicated... well at least it is not dull... well not to me... well maybe too much pain sometimes...

I wonder if Char Char lets others read her word tree books, which I think she has about 20. Well, she is smart to put them in books, I lost a years worth of poems a few months ago because I neglected to print them out before my Hard Disk got reformated by mistake.

Blowing in the wind

Its hard to realize this
-- I have no power --
never did
I am blown by the wind
I go wherever I am blown

Dreams come and go
I hope for the good
the bad overtakes me
I have no power to fight the fight
the wrongs I see are too much for me
I sit here thinking about it all
hopeful
do I believe in miracles?
are there angels who will intervene?
are we all blowing in the wind?
so it seems, so it seems
predestinated, fate
puppets of god?

A little dark, but life is dark:

Sad Eyed Princess

You live among the shadows of the darkest forest
And among the howling animals of the night
Crawling among the trees of your mind
Bruising and redding your tender knees
Absorbing the pain from your roots
As you inhale the mist and sadness of the deep dark
You, enslaved to the emptiness of each starless night
Always kissing and embracing your reoccurring obsessions
As the lover you have become to sadness and pain
Dancing carelessly with your demons
Slumping sadly in your room’s corner -- alone
Not willing to come out – because

Your sorrow, grief, and sadness rule you
Holding you in chains, not against your will, but willingly
These emotions taking you as a passionate lover takes his maiden
You grasp your throbbing pain as if it were pure gold
Something never to flee from, but to embrace and love
Your tears are your medals of war
Worn proudly piercing your flesh over your heart
Your sad facial expression -- your crown of glory
Your torn life’s dress -- the highest fashion
Your blood seeping from your bruised knees – the wine for the gods

I looked into your eyes, wonderfully
Watching you cry profusely
Your seemingly unstoppable tears
Reflecting light as if pure silver
I wanted you -- as if I needed your pain
To free me from mine
My sad eyed princess

The Temple

I walked into the temple
Seeking application of myths
Marbled mosaic colored floors
Bones buried beneath
Statues along the walls
Our ladies of peace with stars
God-like figures cluttering the chambers
Goddesses promising rapture
Sanctuary fires burning
Flickering, giving mood

Stone corridors and halls
Mesmerized maidens prancing
In states of undress and overdress
Rituals, candles and beads
Incense rising toward the heavens
Temple prostitutes with clients
Princes seeking legitimacy
Priests solemn in black robes
Looking jaded and pale

Artisan pretenders reciting verse
Rhythmic uttering of clichés
Sacramental substances being inhaled
Golden manacles hanging from hooks
Music, words and codes
Giving legitimacy to self-gratification
Red wine served with bread
Entrance fee for mystic rituals – 5 dollars
-- This is my favorite bar

White Daffodil

I lifted my eyes
And saw her standing there
As a statuesque flower in bloom
Towering in beauty above her peers

You turn and suddenly
There in purpling
Autumn sky
White Fujiami
[Onitsura]

I enter her garden
In the sill of the moonlight
And came near to her best
The white daffodil

Three loveliest things:
Moonlight
Cherry-bloom
Now I go seeking silent snow
[Rippo]

I bend slowly, gently
To look into her being
Closer to view her beauty
I circle around her in awe

Watching, I wonder
What poet could put
Down his quill
A pluperfect moon
[Onitsura]

I circled her face with kisses
Until I found her lips
From them I did not part
Until the light of day

I have known lovers
Cherry-bloom
The nightingale
I will sleep content
[Anon]

Gates (Feb 7)

She running away
While standing before you
Walking away
While sitting down
Staring past you
As not to listen
Talking trite
So as not to reveal
So many secrets has she
(like you or I)
Can any bear them?

So much love hidden
Behind her iron gates
Opened so few times
Rust eats their hinges
The last time, the gates
Slammed shut so loud
Neighbors felt their thunder
These gates keep her safe
From heartless advances
(Oh, foolish lovers in her past)
Can any lover now enter?

At first, it was her smile
That drew me
A knowing smile had she
Too wise for her age
But there was blood and tears
I saw her bloody knees
I saw the rivers from her eyes
I felt her ritualistic visits
Her night walking
Her dance with the sullen
Her chains with her past
Oh, too, I saw the hope she had
Can any lover share them?

As a plant grows
Weaving in a dance
Back and forth
While all along
Reaching for the sky
She has, I know
A will to grow
To reach for the sky
While dancing to song
And I wonder
Can any lover sing?
-- To her heart

Lady from Superdovia

You walked in
Your dress ... so fine in details
You hadn't hurried to dress
I asked you to turn around
I wanted to admire you
You obliged me
(No ... you turn too quickly,
But I dare not say so ...)
I give you an appreciative look
And pointed out fine details I admired
(I left out what I thought of your beauty)

I took your hand and led you to the floor
And introduced you to those waiting --
Ladies and Gentlemen, I want you to meet
The gracious lady from Superdovia
A poetess of note
Who began writing at seven
After a frightening thunder storm broke
Sending lightning not far from her window
This power polarized her soul
Gravitating her being to the finer details

You then began to read from memory ...
Your words almost immediately
Brought up spirits from the deep
Emotions rarely awakened
A silent deep hush ruled the room
As your soft lips embraced the air
Producing waves of poetry
... embracing all the walls
Reverberating between each surface in the room
All who understood felt the energy
But dared not to stir

You spoke heavenly words
Kept away from mortals
Hidden in golden boxes
Reserved for the gods
Streams in our blood stirred
Heating our emotions
Breaking all our resistance
Terrorizing the censors of our thoughts
Revolution! Revolution!
It could only be
All political thought negated
All hatred thrust through

--- Fade out ---

We met before
I knew you from the beginning
Before you were ever born
You just an idea in His mind
And I a witness to this idea
Waiting, ever waiting for you
Then I opened the door ...
